Buying for a reader
Pick the writer before you pick the thing. Somebody who quotes Wilde and somebody who quotes Marcus Aurelius are not the same present, and getting that right matters more than whether it turns up as a shirt or a mug.
After that, the mug at £16 is the safe one — no size to get wrong, and it gets used every morning. The tote at £27 is the other safe one, for obvious reasons. A t-shirt in a mid size is next, and there are 14 days to change your mind either way.
